Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud set for Juventus move

France international Olivier Giroud is set to switch from Chelsea to Italian giants Juventus, multiple reports indicated Friday.

The former Arsenal player has reportedly agreed on a provisional 2-year deal with Juventus worth €9m.

Chelsea is asking for €5m as a fee, Sky Italia reported.

The 33-year-old Giroud wants to leave Stamford Bridge as he faces the prospect of missing a first-team spot at Chelsea this season.

This was because of the arrival of Germany’s Timo Werner, as well as the presence of young England forward Tammy Abraham.

Carabao Cup: Liverpool to play Arsenal in fourth round

Liverpool will take on Arsenal in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

The Reds on Thursday night crushed Lincoln City 7-2 at Sincil Bank Stadium.

Takumi Minamino and Curtis Jones both scored twice for Jurgen Klopp’s side, while Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Marko Grujic also got on the scoresheet.

Mikel Arteta’s men booked their place in the next round after they beat Leicester City 2-0 yesterday.

A Christian Fuchs own goal and Eddie Nketiah effort sealed the win for the Gunners.

Both sides last met in the Community Shield game which Arsenal won on penalties.

Ibrahimovic tests positive for COVID-19

AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tested positive for coronavirus, the Serie A club have confirmed.

The announcement comes just hours before Milan are due to take on Norwegian side FK Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League third qualifying round on Thursday.

The club say that they have informed the “relevant authorities” and that Ibrahimovic will now enter a period of quarantine at home.

Milan added that no other members of the squad have tested positive in the latest round of testing, although defender Leo Duarte did return a positive result on Wednesday and has already begun isolating.

Ibrahimovic has scored three goals in Milan’s first two games of the season, including both in their 2-0 win over Bologna in their first Serie A match of the season.

The 38-year-old former Sweden international signed a new one-year deal at the San Siro this summer following his successful return to the club from the LA Galaxy in January.

Luis Suarez joins Atletico Madrid in €6 million transfer

Barcelona has confirmed that star player Luis Suarez, has joined Atletico Madrid after seasons in Camp Nou, which he scored 198 goals in 283 games for the club.

Atletico Madrid confirmed they will pay Barca €6 million (£5.5m/$7m) to sign the Uruguayan.

Suarez was linked with Juventus but abandoned the transfer after he was forced to go through a lengthy process of acquiring Italian citizenship.

While at Barca he won 13 trophies to become the club’s third-highest all-time goal scorer, only topped by Cesar and Leo Messi.

“FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Luis Suarez. The Madrid club will pay FC Barcelona €6 million in variables,” the Catalan club announced.

“FC Barcelona would like to publicly express their gratitude to Luis Suarez for his commitment and dedication and wishes him all the best for the future.”

Suarez joined Barcelona in 2014, where he went on to earn the Golden Shoe as Europe’s top scorer after scoring 59 total goals in 2015-16.

After arriving in August, new Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman told Suarez he would not be in his plans for the upcoming season.
