Ayo Akinwale, Nollywood actor, academician dies at 74

Prof Ayo Akinwale, a prominent Nollywood actor and lecturer in the Department of Performing Arts, University of Ilorin, has died at 74.

Mr Kunle Akogun, Director of Corporate Affairs of the University of Ilorin who confirmed the death to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said he died on Sept. 13.

Akinwale began his acting career in the 1970s featuring in television and drama productions.

He won the Best Indigenous actor award at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

Born in Ibadan, he attended Methodist High School and the University of Ibadan before beginning academic work as a lecturer at the Polytechnic Ibadan.

He was the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Culture of the University of Ilorin, and also the Chairman of Oyo State Council for Arts and Culture.

Akinwale also starred in several cultural festivals across Nigeria, a versatile producer, academician, and play writer.

He produced a ‘Sango’ in 1997, Ladepo Omo Adanwo in 2005, and Iranse Ajein 2007.

He was the pioneer board Chairman of UnilorinFM.

WWE Legend, Road Warrior Animal dies at 60

Joseph Laurinaitis, a former professional wrestler who was known in the ring as Road Warrior Animal, has died at the age of 60.

A tweet from the wrestler’s official Twitter account confirmed his death on Wednesday morning and asked for prayers.

According to TMZ, the wrestling legend passed away at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, MO.

Police were called at around 11:49 PM but when deputies arrived on scene, emergency personnel had already declared the ex-wrestler deceased. The cause of his death wasn’t disclosed.

Animal, who is considered one of the best in-ring performers of all-time,  was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011 after wrestling with the organization for many years.

Nengi was left in shock last night when she walked in on lover boy, Neo, washing his love interest, Vee’s panties in the Big Brother Naija lockdown house.

Neo and Vee had issues yesterday September 23, and to pacify her, he joined her while she washed her undies. To make her happy, he took over the washing while she spread them after he had rinsed them.

While they were discussing, Vee called Neo’s attention to the fact that one of her panties was missing.

A surprised Nengi said ”Ahh ahh, Neo, you even wash pant join”. She then turned to Vee, telling her she is a lucky girl.

Responding, Vee said ”My dear, he knows I am a clean b*tch’

Burna Boy becomes first Nigerian artist with certified silver album in UK

Nigerian superstar, Damini Ogulu, a.k.a Burna Boy has become the first Nigerian artist with a certified silver album, “African Giant” in the UK.

The renowned singer, who said he was so excited over the achievement, took to his Instagram page @burnaboygram to announce the news to his fans and also expressed love to everyone that supported him.

“AFRICAN GIANT SILVER IN THE UK & OWN IT X2 PLATINUM.

“Shouts to my brudda Stormzy and love to everyone that supports us. Go stream `REAL LIFE’ now,” he wrote.

A silver certification in the UK means an album has sold 60, 000 copies.

This came after news that ‘Own It’ by Stormzy featuring Burna Boy and Ed Sheeran, has a two-time platinum certification for selling 600,000 copies.

On June 4, it was announced that ‘Be Honest’, the 2019 single by British singer, Jorja Smith featuring Grammy nominee, Burna Boy has been certified platinum in France.

Burna Boy had accepted a gold plaque for his 2018 single “On The Low’’. The gold plaque is for selling 100,000 (or more) copies.

A gold plaque can also be handed to an artist, whose single has been streamed 15 million times in the country, thus 15 million streams of a single in France is equivalent to 100,000 pure sales.

Burna Boy is a multi-awarding Nigerian Afro-Pop singer, whose sound inspired by Nigerian legend Fela Kuti.

He got his breakthrough in 2012 with his hit single such as to Party off his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ released in 2013.

Burna Boy in 2017, signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the U. S. and Warner Music Group internationally.

He released his first major-label backed album ‘Outside’ in 2018.

The artist immense contribution to the entertainment industry coupled with his numerous songs has made him outstanding.
