2023 Population Census: Enugu sets up publicity committee to ensure a successful counting
The National Population Commission, NPC on Wednesday inaugurated members of State census publicity committee.
The commission says it will also deploy full digital technology in the conduct of the census and it will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the results of the census is one that is acceptable to Nigerians and meets international standard.
Addressing members of the committee and invited guests in De Angelo Hotel and Resort Enugu, the Honourable Commissioner National population commission, Hon. Ejike Ezeh said the state publicity committee will be charged with the responsibility of enlightening Nigeria’s on the scope of the census which will involve counting houses and individuals in the country.
Also speaking, the Director of the Commission in Enugu, Ngozi Ethel Onyia who tasked the newly set up committee to be alive to their duties called on the people of Enugu state to assist the commission to plan efficiently for the upcoming census.
The Chairman of Nigeria union of Journalist Enugu chapter, Comrade Sam Udekwe advised members of the public to ensure they are counted during the exercise.
Speaking on behalf of the committee members, the special adviser to the state governor on information, Barrister Steve Orurua said that he is optimistic that the committee will deliver on its mandate giving the track record of the members selected for the job.
The 20 man committee will be headed by the Enugu state deputy governor, Cecilia Ezeilo and other members carefully selected from government agencies, parastatals and the media.
