2023 Presidency: CSOs Endorse Anyim for President

A non-governmental organization, United for Better Nigeria Initiative (UBNi), Southern and Northern coalition groups for South-East president and 80 other Civil Society groups have endorsed Senator Anyim Pius Anyim as qualified to become Nigeria’s president in 2023.

The groups while endorsing Senator Anyim, also formed a group known as National Coalition for Anyim for President 2023.

The groups made the adoption on Tuesday in Abuja at a press conference on the adoption of a southeast candidate for president in 2023.

The Coordinator-General of United for Better Nigeria Initiative (UBNi), Nkolika Mkparu-Okeke, said people of the South-East were politically marginalized, as the region has not produced a president or been elected as a flag bearer of a major political party since over a century, urging Nigerians to support senator Anyim Pius Anyim

The Coordinator, Northern Supporters group for Ndigbo, Suleiman SK said since the return of democracy in Nigeria, the northern and South West have been in power, adding that it was time to give the South-East a chance to occupy the position to bring about equity in Nigerian politics.

In his remarks, the leader of South East, United for Better Nigeria Initiative (UBNi), Dr Kayode Odeyemi, said the groups are soliciting senator Pius for president because of his credibility and experience in government being the senate president in 1999 and secretary of the government of the federation.

United for Better Nigeria Initiative, a political pressure group was formed five years ago to ensure that power is given to the South-Eastern part of the country in the coming 2023 presidential Election.

Those in attendance at the event were National, Zonal and State leaders of the United for Better Nigeria Initiative, politicians, community leaders and many other professional and interest groups.
