2023 Presidential Elections: Tinubu, Shettima Receive Certificate of Return
The Independent National Commission(INEC), has issued the Certificate of Return to the President-elect and his deputy Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shetimma.
The Chairman of INEC, Prof Yakubu issued the certificates on Wednesday at the International Conference Center Abuja.
Shortly after receiving the certificate, the president-elect, Ahmed Tinubu, in his speech called on the opposition parties to join him to work for the progress and prosperity of Nigeria.
He added that his door would always be open for collaboration to take Nigeria to the next level.
He appealed to Nigerians who their candidates did not win to accept the results in the spirit of sportsmanship.
Tinubu who was the presidential candidate of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), scored 8,794,726 votes to be elected president.
People’s Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar got 6,984,520 votes, Peter Obi of Labour Party scored 6,101,533 while Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigerians People’s Party (NNPP) scored 1, 496, 687 votes.
Present at the event were Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, National Party Chairman of APC, Abdullahi Adamu, State Governors and members of the All Progressive’s Congress among others.
