#EndSARS, COVID-19, CAUSE CONFUSION FOR NECO
Candidates taking the 2020 National Examination Council NECO Exams across Nigeria are getting frustrated over the unending postponements of the examinations.
On Monday the examination council explained that an indefinite postponement of the examinations was as a result of the insecurity caused by the three week long protests, riots and vandalism by youths protesting police brutality across the country.
The examinations which were scheduled to take place between June and July, were first postponed because of the COVID-19 lockdown which restricted human contact and movement across Nigeria.
The postponed examinations then commenced on October 5th, after the COVID-19 lockdown but on October 19 the exams were halted on the day the Computer Science practical were to take place.
The council spokesman Azeez Sani announced that the practical examination would now hold on November 16.
It was not however before some schools in Kaduna and Kano had undertaken the practical tests.
The confusion now is that since the computer practical questions have been administered in some states before the new postponement, will the examinations still be valid since new questions are likely to be developed for states which did not take the examination on the first adjourned date.
On Sunday, October 25th, NECO through its spokesperson announced the indefinite postponement of its examination citing security challenges posed by the #EndSARS protests as reason for the latest postponement.
