35th Enugu International Trade Fair Kicks Off

The 35th edition of the Enugu International Trade Fair kicked off on Friday, 5th April, 2024 with a renewed call on the Federal government to set aside adequate funds for the completion of the Enugu International Trade Fair Complex.

Welcoming guests to the event, the President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, Odeiga Jideonwo also urged the federal government to award a direct contract to a competent firm to complete the complex just as those in Kaduna and Lagos.

He commended the Enugu state government for asphalting the two kilometre internal road to the Trade Fair Complex and appealed for financial support to enable the chamber complete the 5 Exhibition Halls designed to cater for different sectors of the economy.

The Enugu State Deputy Governor, Ifeanyi Ossai who represented Governor Peter Mbah announced plans by the state government to establish a Quality Assurance Centre in the state to ensure that only quality goods are produced in the state.

He charged the Enugu Chamber of Commerce to collaborate with other chambers in the Southeast to create an economic hub that would attract investors to the Southeast region.

The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji observed that the theme of this year’s fair “Promoting Made-In-Nigeria Products for Global Competitiveness” aligns with the national goals for economic improvement which is part of the agenda of the present administration.

The trade fair which is expected to last for ten days is featuring the exhibition of various goods and services and providing an opportunity for businesses to connect with potential partners around the world.
