4 test positive for coronavirus at RNC in Charlotte
Health officials in North Carolina’s Mecklenburg County confirmed that four people at the Republican National Convention in Charlotte tested positive for coronavirus.
Two delegates and two RNC staffers tested positive among the nearly 800 people tested, according to health officials.
Those infected have been told to self-isolate and to inform people with whom they have come into contact with to do the same.
“There have been no known incidences during the … RNC meetings in Charlotte where the public has potentially been exposed,” said Mecklenburg Public Health Director Alma (Gibbie) Harris said.
The Charlotte Observer reports the disclosures came after county health officials raised concerns about a lack of social distancing and mask-wearing. Strict coronavirus protocols were required.
