T.A. Orji visits Orji Uzor Kalu in Abuja
Former Governor of Abia State and Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Senator Theodore Orji on Wednesday visited his predecessor and former boss , Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Chief Whip of the Senate at his Queen Amina residence in Abuja.
Chief Orji who expressed his happiness at the release of the Senate Chief Whip from prison, also thanked God for protecting him.
T.A. Orji’s visit which surprised many political watchers, came after similar visits by the President of the Senate Ahmed Lawan, other Senators and prominent Nigerians since Kalu’s release from Nigerian Correctional Service facility in Kuje.
The two former Governors have been engaged in an unending political battle since T.A. Orji’s first tenure as Governor of Abia State, when he severed relations with his widely acclaimed “Godfather” claiming he was being “muscled” to pay millions of Naira to Kalu from Abia State monthly allocation.
Their bitter rivalry led to among other things, the cancellation and withdrawal of Chief Kalu’s Degree from the Abia State University and his loss of Senatorial runs in which T.A. openly supported and funded his opponent, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.
Recently T.A. Orji was fingered by political associates of Kalu in his (Kalu’s) travails which culminated in his conviction and imprisonment at Kuje Prisons, an accusation consistently denied by the T.A. camp.
Chief T. A. Orji’s visit Wednesday may be the beginning of fence mending efforts by the Abia Central Senator who also has an alleged dossier of EFCC accusations of embezzlement dangling on his neck.
However some political actors in Abia State who spoke to signaturetv.org say they are still watching these developments with “keen suspicion” with one of them insisting that yesterday’s visit may be ushering in what he described as a “peace of the graveyard”
