The Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum’s convoy was on Wednesday attacked by Boko Haram members on the  Baga highway, it was learnt on Wednesday.

A splinter of the Boko Haram sect, Islamic State of West Africa Province is believed to have stronghold in the area.

It was on the road that the five aid workers, who were killed about a week ago, were abducted in June this year.

A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force told our correspondent that the governor’s convoy ran into an ambush on Baga road on Wednesday evening.

The source said, “Governor’s convoy was waylaid by gunmen along the Baga highway.
