Police announces N500, 000 reward on Ibadan serial killer suspect Shodipe
A N500,000 has been announced as a reward for anyone that provides useful information that will lead to the re-arrest of a suspected serial killer in Ibadan, Oyo State, Sunday Sodipe.
The Oyo State Police Command which announced the bounty, said the suspect has attracted national attention since he escaped from police custody last week.
Shodipe is believed to have murdered at least three persons, including two students, in Akinyele area of Ibadan from May to July.
Demonstrations and protests, notably among students and journalists had taken place in Ibadan as well as other groups over the escape the escape of the notorious killer from custody.
The suspect was arrested, paraded and arraigned on July 17. The court, however, ordered that he be remanded in police custody instead of correctional custody due to COVID-19 preventive measures. He escaped on August 11.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in Oyo state, Mr. Olugbenga Fadeyi, on Thursday, appealed to members of the public to cooperate with the police by volunteering useful information that can lead to the rearrest of Shodipe.
