Elders of North-Central Zone Launch the North-Central People’s Forum

Elders from North-Central zone held an inaugural meeting in Abuja on Wednesday to herald the launch of the North-Central Peoples’ Forum NCPF.

In his innaugural address,The Chairman Board of Trustees of the forum Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni stated that the formation of the forum will chart a way forward for the North Central Region

He noted the political subdivision of Nigeria into Six Geopolitical zones for administrative convenience, that the existence of administrative subdivisions has led to groups affinity and solidarity among other states and geopolitical zones.

Also noting that it is the affinity of groups and solidarity among states that has led to the formation of different sociopolitical platforms to discuss the development of their zones and to draw the attention of the gov’t to their common challenges

“This became imperative for the elders and People of North Central zone to rise to the challenge and Launch our own geopolitical platform from where we can draw the attention of the relevant authorities on the need to address various socioeconomic, political and security challenges facing the zone” …Jeremiah added

The Forum commended efforts of the Governors of the North-central zones for rising to their responsibilities and defending the people of their various states against insecurities and criminal activities affecting the North-Central region

They assured the Governors of the full support of the forum in achieving the desirable peace in the various states.

The BOT chairman reiterates that NCPF will be a platform that will offer all six states of the Zone and the FCT the opportunity to present a united front to speak on behalf of the zone with desires to:
1.Ensure palpable peace and stability in the zone
2. Pursue rapid industrialization across nooks and crannies of the zone
3. Cooperate and support good policies and administration of the governors of the zones
4. Cooperate with the federal gov’t for full and complete implementation of infrastructure and development
5. Promote, defend and strengthen the north-central unity and interest of its people in the context of indivisible Nigeria

The forum urges members to bury all individual, political and and ethnic differences for the development and progress of the zone.
