IT-driven courts, e-filings becoming a reality –NJC
The National Judicial Council said on Thursday that the dream for Information Technology-driven courts was becoming a reality.
The NJC said many courts were fast keying into technological transformation with a premium placed on audio-visual sittings and e-filing processes.
The Secretary of the council, Mr. Ahmed Saleh, said this at the inauguration of the e-enrolment and e-verification portals for retired judges and certain members of staff on the council’s pension payroll.
Saleh, who was represented by the council’s Director of Information, Mr Soji Oye, said the inauguration of the online platforms was part of moves aimed at achieving an Information Technology-driven judiciary.
He said, “In the last few years, the National Judicial Council has initiated and is championing a complete technological transformation of the court systems and processes placing much more premium on audio-visual court sittings and e-filing of processes.
“The pension department of the NJC is not left out in this initiative as most of its processes and operations have been automated.”
