Nigerian youth launches a fresh Fairer Advocacy Campaign, seeks Nigerians support
A fresh initiative to address Nigeria’s ethnic divide was launched in Abuja on Monday
Leaders of the female-led initiative called Fairer Advocacy Campaign, Zubaids Baba Ibrahim told journalists at the Launch that even Nigeria’s security, unemployment and communal conflict challenges can be traced to ethnic misunderstanding.
Female activist Zubaids Baba Ibrahim said that the ordinary Nigerian wants a united Nigerian where they can live, raise their families and meet their daily needs.
She however observed that politicians take advantage of low level of education in the country to incite ethnic hatred among different groups in the country.
The leader of the new initiative stated that civil unrest in many parts of the country, and destruction of property and the livelihood of many citizens are caused by lack of respect and intolerance by the groups for one another.
She promised that the new campaign will focus on enlightening Nigerians on the need and reward of being united as a nation.
A representative of Pen-Light Center for new media, one of the Non-governmental organization which were at the launch, Bello Safiya promised to deploy some of the resources it gets from the Mac Arthur Foundation, to support the new campaign.
The Fairer Advocacy Campaign aims to mobilize the youth across Nigeria to reject ethnic divide, a challenge which seems to create misunderstanding in many spheres of Nigerian life.
