Nigeria have Successfully Utilized over 3.9 Million Covid-19 Doses- NPHCDA

The Executive Director of National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) Dr. Faisal Shuaib says Nigeria has successfully utilized over 3.9 Million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

In a breakdown, he said that over 2,495,632 people have been vaccinated with the first dose, while 1,370,130 have received their second dose of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.
Shuaib in a press briefing on Tuesday in Abuja said having utilized 96% of vaccines received, Nigeria is poised to achieving 100% utilization of the doses of vaccine, to ensure that people are protected against COVID-19, and normalcy is restored.

The Director said Federal Government is committed to providing safe and effective vaccination against COVID-19 in Nigeria.
Shuaib urged Nigerians to therefore behoves and seek correct and accurate information about COVID-19 from credible sources so as to make the right decision to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to Shuaib, he said “At the onset, it was claimed that COVID-19 was introduced to justify developing vaccines that would be used to depopulate Africans. Those who came up with this theory said that anybody who takes the vaccine would die immediately. Today, as we all can see, nearly 4 million doses of the vaccine have been administered in Nigeria and we have not recorded any case of death linked to the vaccination”.

Also speaking at the press briefing, the World Health Organization country representative, Walter Kazadi Mulombo who said that vaccination should not be the reason to ignore preventive and protective measures of containing the spread of the virus.

Adding that vaccine producers across the globe are collaborating to increase production of the Jab so as to solve the problem of low supply.

Dr. Peter Hawkins, the Country representative of United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) who praised the Nigerian government for their to reduce the spread of the Covid-19 virus, urged Nigerians who have not taken the vaccine to go and take the jab and always maintain social distance and always use the face masks.
