El-Zakzaky, Wife discharged and acquitted by Kaduna court

The Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenah have been discharged and acquitted by a high court in Kaduna State.

The presiding Judge, Justice Gideon Kurada upheld the no-case Submission filed by the counsel to the Shi’ite leader, Femi Falana.

El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenah have been standing trial for over three years on an eight-count charge bordering on alleged culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, disruption of the public peace, among others, and at the last sitting on the first of July, the High court in Kaduna State set July 28, to rule on the no-case submission filed by the counsel to Sheikh Ibrahim El-zakzaky and his wife challenging the charges levelled against them by the Kaduna state government. 

APC Hails Gov Akeredolu’s Victory

The All Progressives Congress has rejoiced with the government and good people of Ondo State over Wednesday’s Supreme Court decision upholding the victory of Rotimi Akeredolu SAN in the last governorship election in the state.

In a statement, John James Akpanudoedehe National Secretary Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of APC said the victory will prompt Governor Akeredolu’s administration which is poised to redouble the tempo of quality service delivery and consolidate its giant strides in the critical areas of education, healthcare delivery, infrastructure development, security, youth empowerment and industrialization.

The Statement added that Governor Akeredolu has followed up his people-oriented policies with several other developmental initiatives which are returning Ondo State to its deserved status and consolidating on the landmark and progressive legacies of late Chief Michael Adekunle Ajasin, the first civilian governor of the state. 

IPOB Threatens to Lock Down South East Over Nnamdi Kanu

The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has threatened a weekly lockdown of the South East which will start from 9th August 2021, over the detention of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu who is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a statement on Thursday, one Chika Edoziem described as IPOB’s Head, Directorate of State, said the Federal Government has an 11-day ultimatum to release Kanu to prevent the lockdown.

For the avoidance of doubt, this total lockdown of Biafra land will take place every Monday until our leader is released unconditionally.

Operatives Arrest Wanted ‘Notorious Bandit’ Bello Galaduma in Sokoto State

Security operatives have arrested a notorious bandit, Bello Galaduma, who has been on the wanted list of security agencies for over two years.

The 40-year-old suspect was nabbed by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Sokoto State, the agency’s Director of Public Relations, Olusola Odumosu, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday.

He explained that Galaduma had gone to buy drugs and also to satisfy his sexual urge in the Aliyu Jodi area of Sokoto State before he was apprehended by security operatives attached to the Sokoto State Command of the NSCDC.

In his reaction, the NSCDC Commandant-General, Ahmed Audi, commended the operatives for a job well done in arresting the suspect, saying the agency has zero-tolerance for all forms of criminal behaviour in the society. 

NYSC mourns the death of five prospective corps members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has mourned the death of five prospective corps members, who lost their lives in a fatal accident on Wednesday, along Abaji/Kwali Expressway.

The deceased left Uyo in Akwa Ibom State, to report at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Katsina State when the tragedy struck, and asides from the deceased, some of the bodies found were headless, and others with life-threatening injuries.

However, it was a Black Wednesday for NYSC family, as the NYSC Director, Press and Public Relations, Adenike Adeyemi, commiserated with the families of the five prospective corps members.

The director-general and management also condole with the governments and people of Akwa-Ibom and Imo states over the tragic incident that has left the NYSC devastated.
