Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, said the chances of the South-East region producing the nation’s presidency in 2023 is in God’s hands.
Governor Umahi said this during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, in reaction to the bright chances the Igbos have to be Nigeria’s President under the APC platform.
With the President Muhammadu Buhari administration expected to elapse in about 17 months’ time from now, there has been uncertainty as to which zone would produce the presidency.
While the southern region has been agitating to have the presidential slot, none of the nation’s two dominant parties – All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) – has officially given the slot to the zone. #
FCT police investigating the cause of Abuja-based chef Emeka Eloagu’s death -Spokesperson
The Federal Capital Territory Police spokesperson, Mariam Yusuf, has confirmed the death of Abuja-based, Creative Director of Helenes Food Company, Emeka Eloagu.
Until his death, Eloagu was a popular Nigerian chef.
Reports say that he was found dead at his Abuja home on Sunday.
The FCT Police spokeswoman told journalists that the Police was still investigating the case to ascertain the exact cause of Eloagu’s death. #
Ex-RRS Commander Tunji Disu Replaces Abba Kyari As IRT Head
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has appointed a Deputy Commissioner of Police, Tunji Disu, as the new Head of the Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT).
The Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba, announced Disu’s appointment in a statement on Monday in Abuja, saying it was with immediate effect.
Disu, a former Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Lagos State, replaces Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari who is presently on suspension.
Kyari is being investigated following his indictment by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over his alleged relationship with the fraudster Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi. #
Forex supply: CBN assures customers of banks’ compliance
The Central Bank of Nigeria has assured members of the public that it has implemented monitoring mechanisms to ensure that deposit money banks fulfil the legitimate foreign exchange demands of customers.
This follows the apex bank’s directive to commercial banks to commence the sale of forex to customers for invisible such as basic travel allowance, personal travel allowance and medical and tuition fees.
The assurance was given by the apex bank’s acting Director in charge of Corporate Communications, Osita Nwanisobi, on Monday in a statement issued by the bank.
He dismissed rumours making the rounds that the CBN planned to convert the FOREX in the domiciliary accounts of customers into naira to check the purported shortage of availability of dollars. #
