Troops Kill 50 ISWAP Terrorists in Borno, Destroy Combat Vehicles
Troops of Joint Task Force, North East Operation Hadin Kai have neutralized over 50 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and destroyed several of their combat equipment in a fierce counter offensive in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
This is according to a statement on Monday signed by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations.
According to the communique, the troops eliminated top commanders of ISWAP as well as foot soldiers.
Unfortunately, the Commander of 28 Task Force Brigade alongside three of his soldiers paid the supreme price, as they reinforced troops to defend the location.
Vice President of Dangote Group Dies
Alhaji Sani Dangote who was an established businessman with investments in key sectors of the economy including manufacturing, agriculture, banking, and oil services, and the vice president of the Dangote Group and brother to Aliko Dangote, has died.
The Group confirmed his demise on Monday in a brief statement via social media.
According to a statement in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi, the Speaker said Sani Dangote would be sorely missed by many Nigerians, noting that his contributions to the development of the Dangote Group and by extension, the private sector in Nigeria would remain indelible.
In reaction to his death, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, expressed sadness, describing the demise as a painful loss and prayed that the Almighty Allah grants the soul of late Alhaji Sani Dangote a peaceful resting place in Jannatul Firdaus.
Six killed, 19 injured in Bauchi crash
Six people have been killed in a fatal crash that occurred in Bauchi on Monday, which involved two commercial vehicles.
The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Monday.
According to him, 19 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in the incident, which was said to have occurred at Durum village along Bauchi-Kano road.
Abdullahi said when they were called, it took the FRSC personnel 20 minutes to get to the scene of the crash for a rescue operation, where they cleared the obstructions on the road while the vehicles were handed over to the Motor Transport Department of the GRA Police Station and urged drivers to avoid recklessness while driving and obey road traffic rules and regulations.
Delta commissioner tackles Omo-Agege over attack on gov Okowa
DELTA State Commissioner for Information, Charles Aniagwu, on Monday, berated the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for casting aspersions on the State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa.
Omo-Agege had accused Okowa’s government of damaging the state economy while describing him as an elected monarch.
Aniagwu also informed Omo-Agege that relying on blackmail would not take him to Asaba Government House.

The Deputy Senate President had urged members of the All Progressives Congress to chase the Okowa-led Peoples Democratic Party administration out in 2023.
In response to Omo-Agege’s comments, Aniagwu said, Some persons are hell-bent on distracting the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa but can’t distract us from the focus to develop Delta.
Aniagwu stated that the APC did not understand what good governance is all about and did not have the political will to criticize Okowa’s government.
Metal electrocutes lady in Obi Cubana’s club, police order autopsy
A lady, identified simply as Susan, has been electrocuted at the Hustle and Bustle, a club and restaurant in the Aminu Kano Crescent area of Wuse, Abuja, co-owned by a popular socialite, Obi Cubana.
A friend to the victim who accused the management of the club of not accompanying Susan to the hospital or reporting the incident to the police, on his Twitter page @KhalidOshoke, narrated that the victim, who went to the club on Saturday, was allegedly electrocuted by a metal on the floor of the clubhouse.
The Twitter user, who later tweeted that the family had been given access to the CCTV footage, noted that the matter had been reported to the police, while Nigerians urged the victim’s family to sue the club and called on the government to close the facility.
However, the management of the club, in a statement posted on its Instagram page on Monday, announced the closure of the facility till further notice.
