Abdulsalami, Defence Minister In Kaduna As Gen Wushishi Is Buried
The remains of former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi (rtd), have been laid to rest, in Kaduna, where the deceased, who hailed from Niger State, lived most part of his life.
The funeral prayer was attended by people from all walks of life, including serving and retired military officers.
Among those who attended the burial were former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), Col. Sani Bello, former Governor of Kano State, and traditional rulers from Niger State, led by the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Traditional Council of Chiefs, Alh Yahaya Abubakar.
Also in attendance were the Minister of Defence, Bashir Salihu Magashi, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, among others.
Governor Sani Bello of Niger State reaffirmed that late General Wushishi led an exemplary life.
“I’m short of words to describe the devastating effect of the demise of the late General considering his experiences, wise counsel and also ability to coordinate the activities of elder statesmen in the state. He was a leader, a perfect gentleman,” he said.
Mohammed Inuwa Wushishi CFR GCON was born on January 1st 1940 and died on December 4, 2021, was a Nigerian Army Lieutenant General who served as Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Nigeria from October 1981 to October 1983 the Nigerian Second Republic. Inuwa Wushishi was born in Wushishi North Nigeria and was a Nupe Muslim from Niger State.
