IPOB reaffirms April deadline for ban of cow meat in S’East
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) declared that its April 2022 deadline for the ban on consumption of cow meat in Biafra land remains sacrosanct.
Its Spokesman, Comrade Emma Powerful, reaffirmed this in a statement issued yesterday, saying that the decision to ban the movement, sale and consumption of cow meat in Biafra land take effect from April.
The group said the move was not borne out of hatred, but was aimed at safeguarding Biafra land and its people from the Fulani agenda.
“Our decision is borne out of the natural desire to preserve our race from being annihilated by the Fulani terrorist herdsmen. It was taken as a last resort after several years of patience over the unprovoked genocidal attacks by Fulani herdsmen on our communities and failure of the compromised Nigeria security agencies to stop the killings by herdsmen,” he said.
He stated that IPOB used this medium to correct the misinformation and misconceptions surrounding its position on the issue, which he stated their enemies peddled to blackmail IPOB.
“We have waited enough and can no longer tolerate the docility and silence of the Federal Government in protecting our communities against the agents of death.
“Since their cattle have been the reason they kill our people, destroy our farms, rape our women and kidnap our men for ransom, we have decided to stop consuming their cows, which have now become a source of sorrow and death. It is better we live and eat no cows than eat them and be killed.”
He said before arriving at the decision, IPOB made several appeals to the Federal Government and the security agencies to stop the herdsmen from their atrocities in Biafra land, but they ignored our calls, leaving the hapless communities at the mercy of the messengers of death.
“Our patience has been overstretched and so we can no longer afford to fold our arms and be waiting for the last man in Biafra land to be killed by Fulani jihadists masquerading as herdsmen.
“Our people waste up to N3 billion every year on cow meat and we won’t allow that to continue. We are encouraging those who have the money to start breeding our local cows and other farming. IPOB will support them to boosts their farming and animal husbandry business,” the statement added.
