WHY WE FOCUS ON GRASSROOTS IN THE WAR AGAINST CORRUPTION – ILO
The Chief Executive Officer of Signature Communications ltd, VinMartin Obiora Ilo has explained why the organization takes the war against corruption to the grassroots.
According to the Signature boss, corruption which is an enemy of humanity recruits its foot soldiers from the grassroots-the locals many of who are misled in their quest to gain relevance in society.
This according to VinMartin Ilo, requires an intentional and pragmatic approach in dismantling the foot soldiers from the source.
He gave the explanation in Abuja at a town hall meeting organized by Corruption Tori, the anti-corruption TV program to mark the 2022 World Anti-Corruption Day in Abuja on Friday.
Ilo, also stated that those who provide the foot soldiers for corruption to thrive do not understand the elitist language of anti-corruption messages designed to drive behavioral change, making it necessary for corruption tori produce in pidgin English and translated into three indigenous Nigerian languages.
Mr. Ilo explained that in the last four years, Corruption Tori has encountered corruption in its naked form and also met Nigerians who have stood against corruption, and resisted its temptation even when their social standing is enough reason to be corrupt like those honored at the 2022 World Anti-Corruption Day celebration.
Corruption Tori which is aired on AIT, NTA stations, and other state networks has taken the fight against corruption to local areas like Adu-Achi in Enugu State, Iwo in Osun State, and Mpape Community in Abuja.
