Sudanese Ambassador To Nigeria Assures Students Of Quick Return To Resume Studies
The Ambassador of Sudan to Nigeria, Ahmed Yusuf, has assured Nigerian students that they will soon return to Sudan to resume their studies, as efforts are being made by the international communities to ensure that the conflict does not escalate to a full-blown war.
The first batch of Nigerians, who fled the ongoing war in Sudan, were airlifted on Wednesday evening and landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, around 11:30 pm.
Shortly after the first batch of Nigerians evacuated from Sudan arrived in Abuja, Yusuf expressed hope that the situation in his country would soon be calm.
Yusuf on Thursday gave the assurance during the arrival of the 376 stranded Nigerians at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja from the conflict-hit country, through Egypt.
According to him, the army will soon take over control of the country from the paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces (RSF), supported by the Libyan National Army Wagner Group.
He continued, “I hope that things will be controlled there and safety would be back and rehabilitation will be started there.
“And you can come back to your second country to pursue and continue your studies for those who are students and for others who have business there.
The Nigerian government began airlifting over 5 million evacuees on Wednesday, as 4 Nigerian aircraft are expected to depart Sudan before Sunday, to evacuate over 500 persons in the second leg of the exercise.
