The Nigeria Labour Unions have suspended for 30 days the nationwide strike expected to have commenced on October third after reaching a late agreement with the federal government last night.

The agreement would implement demands made by the unions following the removal of the petrol subsidy which is responsible for the present inflation in Nigeria.

Organized Labour had earlier taken to the streets in protest over the hardship being faced by Nigerian workers. Both parties have signed a 15-count agreement to address most of the issues raised by the workers.

The Organized Labour expressed hope that the agreement will be followed to the letter, and that Nigerian workers will be the ultimate beneficiaries.

The document was signed by Nigeria’s Minister of Labour and Employment, Simon Lalong; Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha; and Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris.
