Some migration stakeholders have underscored the need for positive collaboration among actors to enhance migration governance and management in Nigeria.

They expressed this view at a two-day Technical Working Group, workshop on Migration and Development, in Abuja on Wednesday.

The Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Tijani Ahmed said the aim of the meeting was to update the group on the progress of the National Migration Policy review.

Ahmed explained that the goal was to initiate and ensure a unified and effective National Migration Policy review.

He also said that the Commission intended to expand the review scope by identifying emerging migration trends, challenges, and opportunities that might not have been adequately addressed in the initial review plan.

The German Ambassador, Annett Gunther said that Germany was committed to safe, orderly and regular migration.

Gunther was represented by Roli Ukwu, Desk Officer, Migration, Press and Communication.

According to her, a review of the National Migration Policy is proof of the commitment of the Nigerian government to capture new realities arising from the implementation of the policy in the last eight years.
