FCCPC WARNS AIR PEACE AGAINST MEDDLING IN ITS INVESTIGATION

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, on Sunday, warned Air Peace against derailing its ongoing investigation into alleged exploitative ticket pricing and other activities that violate the rights of consumers.

Aside from the alleged exploitative ticket pricing, the commission had also launched an inquiry into other unfair business practices by the airline.

FCCPC’s warning, contained in a statement by its Director of
Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu, followed a claim by Air Peace that it was not under investigation.

The commission accused Air Peace of using media leaks and public
statements to mislead the general public and create confusion about the
ongoing enquiries.

It also noted that Air Peace’s assertion that only the aviation regulatory
agency could enquire into its affairs “betrays a terribly poor understanding of both the legal and moral pillars of its operating environment.”

According to FCCPC, passengers are consumers of its services, insisting
their rights are inalienable and guaranteed under the FCCPA.

FCCPC further reiterated its firm commitment to ensuring that the airline’s pricing structure and consumer complaints are investigated.
