Sallah: Sultan Of Sokoto Calls For Prayers For Leaders
The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has again called on Nigerians to pray for leaders in the face of many challenges facing the country.
The Sultan made the call at his place shortly after the Eid prayer during his Sallah’s message.
He said citizens ought to support the leadership in the country in their efforts to surmount the challenges bedeviling the country.
According to him, the best way to support leaders is by praying for their success, being law-abiding, and promoting unity.
He appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts against insecurity as he urged citizens to embrace agriculture for economic self-reliance.

He said though the security agencies were doing their best to restore normalcy and promote unity in the country, he was worried about several communities in the country under the siege of insecurity.
He advised citizens to take advantage of the wet season to invest in agriculture to ensure food security and prosperity in the country.
The Sultan also commiserated with victims of the unfortunate flood disaster in Mokwa, Niger State, that claimed the lives of scores of persons.
He solicited support for survivors and pray against the reoccurrence of such incidents across the country.
Mokwa is a key meeting and transit point for traders from the South and food growers in the North.
It is about 350km (217 miles) by road east of Nigeria’s capital, Abuja.
Many trucks transporting farm produce and rams were trapped when the devastating flood collapsed the Mokwa Bridge.
Some sellers attributed the surge in prices of rams to the flood which the Federal Government has said was caused by heavy rainfall due to extreme weather conditions occasioned by climate change, unregulated buildings, construction activities, and poor drainage infrastructure.
Over 200 bodies have been recovered from the town in the last few days after flash floods hit the area.
Thousands of people have also been displaced by the floods.
