Asukama Community Refutes Green Energy’s Claim on Otakikpo Terminal Location
The Palace of the Okaan-Ama of Asukama in Andoni Local Government Area, Rivers State, has refuted claims by Green Energy International Limited that the $400 million export terminal to be commissioned by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on October 8, 2025, is located in Ikuru Town.
In a statement signed by Adolphus Luke, Royal Press Secretary to His Royal Majesty, Okaan-Ama Asukama, the community described the claim by Green Energy’s representative, Olusegun Ilori, as false and misleading. It reaffirmed that the Otakikpo oil field hosting Green Energy lies within Asukama, not Ikuru Town, adding that boundary disputes around the area are already before the Rivers State High Court and the Supreme Court.
While welcoming the President’s visit, the palace warned against any attempt to distort historical facts or encroach on Asukama land. It urged Green Energy and its representatives to desist from such claims to prevent unrest and called on the Rivers and Federal Governments, as well as the public, to disregard the misleading publication.
