The Man Who Sued Peter Obi Over Academic Records Is Not A Member Of Labour Party -LP
The Labour Party says, Abayomi Arabambi, who has dragged the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) to court over Peter Obi’s academic records, is not a member of the party.
In a statement issued on Monday by Eluma Asogwa, national publicity secretary of Labour party, the party said that it wished to inform the public that Abayomi Arabambi was among 25 members of Labour Party suspended from the party on 18th March 2026 for various offences including anti party activities. The suspension was ratified by the national convention of the party on 28th April 2026.
The party said if Abayomi Arabambi has presented himself to the public as a chieftain or representative of the Labour Party, such representation is entirely unauthorised and, prima facie, amounts to impersonation. The matter is currently being reviewed by the Party’s lawyers for the purpose of determining the appropriate legal and other steps that may be taken, including a possible petition to the relevant law enforcement authorities.
The Labour Party said that its statement should put the matter in its proper perspective and clarify the status of Abayomi Arabambi vis-à-vis the Labour Party.
