Abia gets substantive Customary Court of Appeal President
The hitherto acting president of the Abia State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Okey Iyke Nwamoh, has been sworn into office as the substantive president on Friday by the state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
The governor, during the swearing-in ceremony at Government House Umuahia, also inaugurated the newly reconstituted State Judicial Service Commission (JSC), which statutorily has the state Chief Judge as the Chairman.
Speaking after the statutory Oaths of Office and Allegiance were administered on Justice Nwamoh by the State Solicitor General, Lady Uzoamaka Ikonne and inauguration of the members of the JSC, Governor Ikpeazu charged Justice Nwamoh to maintain a cordial relationship with the state three arms of government.
The governor, who said that the members of the newly inaugurated JSC were carefully selected, enjoined them to bring their wealth of experience to bear on their duties and expressed confidence that they would not disappoint the people and government of Abia State.
In his reaction, Justice Nwamoh said he was elated by the honour and assured the state that he would abide by his oath of office and allegiance while discharging his duties. He also said members of the JSC, whose reconstitution he described as timeous, would discharge their duties judiciously.
