Armed robbers on Wednesday threatened to unleash mayhem on residents of Mpape community, a suburb of Abuja if they fail to meet their demand. The district Head of the Mpape community, Abubakar Gimba appealed to residents of the community to remain calm as security agencies are on top of the situation. He spoke on Thursday in an interview with Signature TV correspondent. The armed robbers on Wednesday circulated a letter around the entire community threatening to deal with anyone who fails to provide the sum of One Hundred Thousand Naira when they come around. Abubakar Gimba said that he was able to call the attention of security personnel when residents came to his palace to inform him about the situation. A resident of the community, Yakubu Zaky, said residents of the community are organizing a local vigilante group to protect themselves. He faulted the road network in the community and called on the government to set up a police outpost in the area. Another resident of the community said the situation is critical and residents are scared. Hope Inibehe-Okon who could not hide her fears, said residents have deserted the community since they got the letter. Mpape community is located off Maitama extension, along Kubwa express road and houses low-income Nigerians from diverse ethnic groups
