Activity restores back to Iyana Iba Axis as Okada riders, NURTW members clash
The Lagos State Police spokesperson, Adejobi Olumiyiwa says normalcy has been restored to Iyana Iba, Okokomaiko and the axis where Motorcycle riders and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers clashed in the morning
An eyewitness who pleaded for anonymity, said the situation which started around 8 am was due to a clash between motorcycle riders and members of the National Union of NURTW who were discharging their ticketing duties.
There was a disagreement between the two groups that led to the death of one person.
Security operatives intervened to secure peace but the aggrieved parties retreated, only for the Okada men to troop back to challenge the NURTW members.
It was a rough morning for business owners’ and residents of Iyana-Iba-Ojo axis as economic activities were brought to a halt as a result of the clash
The incident which happened near the Lagos State University left passers-by scampering to safety.
The police spokesperson has therefore advised everyone to continue going about their businesses around the affected area.
