The Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu has granted pardon to 26 inmates of the Olokuta Correctional Centre Akure, the state capital.
The gesture, according to the governor, was part of the move to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, especially at the correctional center in the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Segun Ajiboye on Tuesday.
Ajiboye said, “This is in exercise of the power conferred on the Governor by paragraph (d) of the sub-section (1) of section 212, of the Nigeria constitution 1999 (as amended).”
