Five African leaders have been lined up to speak at the commissioning of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals in Epe, Lagos State.

The presidents included Nana Akufo-Addo (Ghana), Mahamat Déby (Chad), Mohamed Bazoum (Niger), Macky Sall (Senegal), and Faure Gnassingbé (Togo).

The facility — a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) which first announced the commencement of construction in February 2015 — is being commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari, bookending his similarly timed tenure.

Besides servicing the international community, the project is expected to provide thousands of jobs, providing respite from Africa’s most populous nation’s troubling unemployment rate.
