Aminu Ado Bayero emerges as the 15th Emir of Kano
Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero on Saturday received the Staff of Office as the 15th Emir of Kano. The Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje while presenting the staff of office to the new Emir according to the law and tradition institution of Kano State Emirates council, said he was chosen base on merit and wishes him greatness in his reign.
The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, in his remarks described the appointment and coronation of the Emir as generational change. While praying for the land to prosper in his reign.
In a letter from President Buhari to the Emir, which was read by the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the President said “I wish to extend my wholehearted congratulation to you for your ascension to the throne of your forefathers, as the 15th Fulani Emir of Kano, from the Sullubawa clan, culminating in a well-deserved installation that has just taken place here on this Saturday, 3rd of July, 2021″.
Furthermore, As I continue to pray for your success and look forward to your contribution to uplifting the people of Kano Emirate in particular, and the nation in general. I wish to assure you of my support for you to leave a sustainable legacy,” the letter concludes.
An elder statesman and Chairman Dantata Group, Alhaji Aminu Dantata who went down the memory lane said his childhood friend, Alhaji Ado Bayero the father of the Aminu Ado Bayero, described the moment they shared as something he can never forget in life. He prays to Almighty Allah to Grant him Aljanatul Firdaus and wish his son success as he is about to start another phase in life.
Aminu Ado Bayero, born on 1st July 1961, is the 15th Emir of Kano from the Fulani Sullubawa clan. He ascended the throne on 9th March 2020, following the deposition of his nephew Muhammad Sanusi ll by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. His father was the longest serving emir in the history of Kano, who serve from 1963 to 2014.
Over 100 Emirs/traditional leaders from the six geo-political zones of the country and other nations of the world graced the occasion.
The coronation was witnessed by Governors, Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa, Bello Masari of Katsina, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Bello Matawalle of Zamfara, Abubakar Bagudu of Kebbi, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, and Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state.
The Senate President, Dr Ahmad Lawan and many Principal Officers of the National Assembly, alongside many members of the National Assembly were also there.
First-class traditional rulers who grace the event were; the Sultan of Sokoto Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, Shehu of Borno, the Imperial Majesty Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, His Royal Majesty Oba of Benin, Omo N’oba Ewuare III, and His Highness the Emir of Gwandu.
Traditional leaders from Senegal, Chad Republic, Cameroon, Niger Republic, and Ambassadors from South Africa, India among many other foreign diplomats were present at the grand event.
