Andoni Progressive Union, Abuja Condemns Killing of Chief Alfred Etete Otobo-Alama and Rising Cult Violence in Andoni LGA
The Andoni Progressive Union (APU), Abuja, condemns in the strongest terms the rising insecurity in Obolo land, particularly the gruesome murder of Chief Alfred Etete Otobo-Alama and the persistent cult clashes in Ilotombi Town.
This is according to a statement signed by the Chairman and General Secretary of the union, made available to Newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.
Chief Etete was brutally killed by unknown assailants at his residence in Agwut Obolo on February 27, 2026. The Union also decries the ongoing cult-related violence in the Ilotombi axis of Andoni LGA, which has tragically claimed the lives of promising young men.
“We are deeply concerned that our once-peaceful land is increasingly becoming a theater of unrest, with no arrests made for these heinous acts that threaten the development and investment our nation urgently needs.”
With heavy hearts, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the affected communities of Agwut Obolo and Ilotombi, and all sons and daughters of Obolo land impacted by these senseless deaths.
We call on the Chairmen of Andoni and Eastern Obolo LGAs, as Chief Security Officers of their domains, to act decisively to restore order. Furthermore, we urge His Excellency, Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara; the Inspector General of Police; the Commissioner of Police, Rivers State; the DPO, Ngo Division; and the Andoni Traditional Rulers Council to leave no stone unturned in apprehending the perpetrators of these wicked acts and ensuring they face the full weight of the law, regardless of their connections.
We appeal to the youth of Obolo land to reject all forms of violence, including cultism, assassination, and kidnapping. A peaceful environment is essential for meaningful progress. We encourage all community youth associations to remain vigilant against external forces seeking to infiltrate and destabilize our communities.
The Union prays for forgiveness, unity, and lasting peace, believing that an end to these killings is within reach.
