APC Primary: Drama as Aisha Buhari refuses to join Buhari to Hand Party flag to Tinubu

Drama on Wednesday as the Wife of the President, first lady of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, on Wednesday, made obvious her displeasure over the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Aisha Buhari, in the VIP section of the Eagles Square, refused to join her husband at the podium for the handing of the party’s flag to Ahmed Tinubu despite several pleas.

The first Lady rejected every effort to make her move from her seat even when officials of the Presidency came to inform her, she was called to the podium, but refuse to stand up to join her husband.

Tinubu was, however, handed the flag by President Muhammadu Buhari as Aisha’s space on the podium was left vacant.

About 2,322 delegates from across Nigeria had stormed the Eagles Square to elect the flag bearer of the party.

The former Lagos State Governor scored 1,271 to defeat his closest challenger, Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 316, and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, scored 235 to come third.

The emergence of the Former Lagos Governor and APC National Leader is the first step in the realization of what he described as his lifelong ambition to be President of Nigeria.

His declaration and eventual emergence now will be facing off against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party, former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and former Anambra Governor, Peter Obi, as well as other candidates who have emerged in parties across the country.

President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, pulled152, Former Zamfara State Governor, Ahmad Sanni Yerima, polled 4, Clergyman, Tunde Bakare, 0, Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, 38, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, 47, Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, 37, Former Imo State Governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha 0 and Chief Ikeobasi Mokelu, 0.
