At last Obaseki defects to PDP

After days of speculation and high wire politics Godwin Obaseki, Edo State Governor has formally joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Obaseki had exited the APC some days ago following his disqualification by the Oshiomohle led NWC to contest for the Edo Governorship Primary

The governor made this known on Friday at the party’s Secretariat in Benin city, the Edo state capital.

He said he officially joined the PDP to advance his ambition to seek re-election as Governor of Edo State. Read also

The Governor He was received by the leadership of the party led by the state Chairman of the PDP, Hon Tony Aziegbemi.

Meanwhile the All progressives Congress (APC) says the decision by Governor Godwin Obaseki to defect to the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) did not come to it as a surprising development.Spokesperson of the APC, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu gave the reaction while speaking with journalists in Abuja.“It has not come to us as a surprise. We knew he had defected long ago because he resigned his membership of the party which we have accepted,” Issa-Onilu said.“So you can’t defect twice. So if he is defecting again, we don’t know whether what he has just done now is news any longer
