A Bill for an Act to Amend the Federal Road Safety Commission Act, 2007 to make provision for the establishment of the Road Safety Special Armed Squad has scaled second reading in the House of Representatives.

The bill which is sponsored by two lawmakers — Abiodun Adesida and Olaide Muhammed — also sought to make Corps on the rank of Deputy Corp Marshal enjoy benefits attached to that grade including retirement grade.

The bill also sought to empower the Federal Road Safety Corps with the responsibility for road traffic administration and safety management, preventing and minimising road traffic crashes on public roads, among others.

The bill scaled second reading without a debate and would now be subjected to a public hearing.
