The Governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum has blamed the activities of kidnappers and bandits as the reason for the increasing hardship and unemployment in Nigeria especially his state and some other volatile region.
According to him, food insecurity, access to education, healthcare, infrastructure are some of the social-economic challenges of insecurity in Nigeria
He made the attribution at the Umaru shinkafi 2nd Intelligence Security Summit with the theme, The Socio-Economic Implications of Kidnapping and Banditry in Nigeria held on Tuesday at the Yar’adua centre, Abuja
Speaking at the security session, the Governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum stressed how the activities of kidnappers and bandits were affecting the social-economic development of his state.
He also said that corruption was still one of the challenges hindering the progress of Nigeria
Also speaking, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma who made contribution virtually also recounted how the current insecurity in his state was affecting developmental growth

The Director-General Department of state security, who was represented by V.O Attah gave statistics of kidnapping and banditry cases since 2021.
Hajiya Zarau Idris one of the panellists, in her contribution, narrated that the family is most affected in the face of kidnapping and banditry.
The one-day consultative security meeting which gathered some heads of state, government officials and security agencies were to address the social-economic challenges of insecurity and the way forward.
