BREAKING: Shekarau officially defects to PDP after 3 Months in NNPP

A former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau has officially returned to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after three months he defected to  New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP)from the All Progressives Congress.

Shekarau returned to the PDP from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, on Monday at his Mundubawa home in Kano. 

The former Senator was received by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu and members of the National Working Committee, NWC.

Shekarau left the NNPP two months after joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Shekarau, the lawmaker representing Kano Central, was a former Nigerian minister of education and two-term Governor of Kano.

He was one of the candidates who aspired to become president in the Nigeria general elections of 2011.

The PDP bigwigs in attendance include the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar,  Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; governors of Sokoto and Taraba, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and Darius Ishaku.

Others are former Vice President, Namadi Sambo, the chairman of the BOT of the party, and former governor of Kaduna state, Ahmed Makarfi, former governors of Jigawa (Saminu Turaki and Sule Lamido), Sokoto (Attahiru Bafarawa), Adamawa (Boni Haruna), Senator Dino Melaye, Senator Shehu Sani, PDP Youth Leader amongst others.
