The Coalition for Good Governance and Change Initiative has thrown its weight in support of the subsidy removal by the Federal Government

The Coalition on Monday organized a rally at the Unity Fountain Abuja, to call on the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to desist from any attempt to embark on their planned strike action

Speaking to newsmen, the chief convener of National Patriotic Movement (NPM), Comrade Okpokwu Ogenyi said the movement will resist attempts to arm twist the government into reversing the subsidy regime, adding that the rot in the subsidy dispensation is what led the country to the sorry state that it is in today.

The coalition accused the NLC and TUC of benefiting from the subsidy regime, it also challenged the Unions to support the total privatization of the power sector as well as the implementation of service based tariffs, as failure to do so, will mean that the unions are complacent to the corruption and rot of the subsidy era

The movement also threatened court action on NLC and TUC,if they continue with their threats of strike action and to also engage them in the streets if the unions persisted.
