Couple kill own child in domestic fight

A couple in Eleyewo area, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State has killed their daughter in a domestic fight.

The child born two weeks ago, who was strapped to the mother’s back during the fisticuff, was discovered dead after the scuffle between the couple known as Ekene and Rose Ijokun.

It is not clear whether the deceased was their only child or if the constantly warring couple, according to neighbors had other children.

Eye witnesses said the misunderstanding had started with exchange of words but later saw the couple trading punches and no one was sure at what point the toddler was killed.

The traditional ruler of Eleyowo community, Chief Eso Ojo, told reporters that the incident was sad and unfortunate.

According to him this was a strange development as nothing like that had ever taken place in their community before.
