Court nullifies impeachment of ex-Kogi deputy gov, Simon Achuba

A State High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, has nullified the impeachment of the former Deputy Governor of the State, Simon Achuba.

Justice John Olorunfemi on Wednesday faulted Achuba’s removal from office, describing it as a violation of the Constitution.

The judge, while delivering the judgment, also said the nomination of Edward Onoja as the deputy governor did not follow due process.

The Kogi State House of Assembly had in October 2019 purportedly impeached the former Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba, who had been at loggerhead with the governor, Yaya Bello.
