Covid 19: Covid 19 vaccine has not killed anyone in Nigeria— Shuaib

The Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib says no one has died in Nigeria due to Covid 19 vaccination.

He disclosed this in a press conference in Abuja on Thursday

Dr. Faisal Shuaib said  that out of over three million Nigerians that have been vaccinated, thirteen thousand, two hundred and sixty-seven have experienced mild side effect, with four thousand seven hundred and eighty suffering severe side effect of the Covid 19 jab.

He however encouraged  Nigerians to ensure that they get vaccinated and never to be discouraged by the side effect of the vaccine

Shuaib further disclosed that United State of America would distribute 80 million covid 19 vaccine across the globe before the end of June.

He assured those that have received the first dose of the jab that Nigeria  would receive  another supply of the vaccine before they would be due for the second dose.

Walter Kazadi Mulombo, World Health Organization Country Representative stated that the vaccination should not be the reason to ignore preventive and protective measures of containing the spread of the virus.

He disclosed that the World Health Organization was working diligently to ensure that high quality   of Covid 19 vaccine is produced.

Mulombo stated that vaccine producers across the globe are collaborating to increase production of the jab so as to solve the problem of low supply.

He promised that the WHO would continue to provide technical assistance to Nigeria in the effort to eradicate the virus.

The Country Representative of United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund, UNICEF, Dr Peter Hawkins urged Nigerians to try and get vaccinated.

He also advised Nigerians who have received the first dose to endeavor to get the second dose to enable its effectiveness.

The conference was organized to enlighten Nigerians  on covid 19 vaccination across the country.
