Distributors and Transporters resolve to End Fuel Challenges

Transporters and Distributors of petroleum products on Thursday waded into the current petroleum products scarcity affecting many cities in Nigeria.

At an extra-ordinary general meeting of the Association of Distributors and Transporters of petroleum products ADITOP in Abuja on Thursday, the operators identified the welfare and safety of truck drivers, the incessant strikes by the drivers and the poor state of Nigerian roads as major challenges affecting all-season availability of petroleum products.

The president of Aditop, Lawan Danzaki said the association has decided to wade into the challenges in order to provide better products distribution services to Nigerians. To achieve this, Danzaki said ADITOP will liaise with the federal government to ensure constant maintenance of the roads.

The Minister of state for petroleum resources, Timipre Sylva and the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mele Kyari both of who were represented at the event said that the federal government was doing everything possible to resolve the present fuel challenges and make petrol available to Nigerians.

 

In his remarks, Executive Secretary ADITOP, Ahmad Bawa said under no circumstance shall any member shut down member depot or government facilities, without adequate discussion with Aditop and Ipman, while stating that members’ welfare will be prioritised.

The National President of IPMAN, Elder Chinedu Okoronkwo said that with the partnership between the organizations Nigerians should expect better service delivery and an end to strike.

ADITOP was established in 2012 to promote the welfare of its members and create a platform for collaborative delivery of services to Nigerians.

The event also featured, the unveiling of Aditop Membership sticker, display of Cultural dance and music and group picture.

Present at the meeting were; the representative of Emir of Kano, Representative of Group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited Representative of Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Representative of Minister of Labour, Senator Binta Garba, top government officials among others.
