Edo 2020: Expect Free, Fair, and Credible polls-Electorate
The Edo State governorship election which comes up on September 19, may disappoint those who expect it to be marred by violence.
Edo State residents are upbeat that the election will be free, fair, and credible. Some of the residents who spoke to Signaturetv.org correspondent were optimistic that the polls will be rancour free following the timely intervention of the Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare 11.
The monarch had held a meeting with the two contending candidates, Governor Godwin Obaseki, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, admonishing that the state should not experience violence before, during, and after the governorship election.
Some Benin residents said that since after the meeting, the occasional gunshots, disruptions, and attacks on campaigns and party officials by hoodlums and thugs have virtually stopped.
Signaturetv.org Correspondent, Obiora Ani, who monitored the last campaigns in the state, reports.
