Edo 2020: Front runners intensify campaigns to woo voters

As the governorship election in Edo State draws close, the major contenders in the election, the incumbent Governor, Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Friday, intensified their campaigns to woo voters to vote for them in the upcoming election.

Governor Obaseki who took his campaign train to Igor community and the new Benin market, told the people that he entered into a memorandum of understanding, MOU, to lay fibre optic cables for internet access in the state. READ

He also said that his administration completed over 2,000 projects in the state in the last four years, saying that he will embark on further projects such as the creation of industrial and technological hubs for the state.

On his part, the candidate of the APC, Osagie Ize Iyamu, said his Simple Agency would radically transform the state, if given the opportunity to serve.

Responding to questions while campaigning in Esan West and Esan Central on Friday, Ize Iyamu said his immediate priority would be the provision of basic infrastructure.

He promised not to disappoint the people if voted into power.

Both candidates visited many wards and did road shows in major cities of the state in the cause of their campaigns.

The Edo State governorship election is slated for the 19th of this month.
