Activities have resumed in Rivers State after Thursday’s deserted streets in Port Harcourt and nearby areas.
Motorists and traders, who avoided business during the first day of the #EndBadGovernance protest, returned to their routines on Friday morning due to the peaceful nature of the demonstration.
On Thursday, Governor Siminalayi Fubara praised the orderly conduct of protesters amid the economic challenges that ignited the recent unrest. Addressing the demonstrators at the Government House, he expressed gratitude for their civility and genuine calls for change. Fubara assured the youth of his administration’s commitment to enhancing the state’s economy and residents’ welfare.
He acknowledged the economic hardships many face and stressed the need to address their concerns promptly. The governor encouraged protesters to remain patient and trust his administration’s efforts for economic reform while warning them to stay alert against potential agitators aiming to disrupt the peaceful protests, especially given the current political sensitivity.
