Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, has issued a stern warning against those attempting to import miscreants to cause unrest in the state.
In a broadcast on Friday, addressing the first day of protests, Idris stated, “We have information that some individuals are trying to bring troublemakers into Kebbi, particularly in Birnin Kebbi, Argungu, Jega, Yauri, and Zuru.”
He emphasized that the people of Kebbi respect the law and that protesting is not part of their character; however, some are seeking to incite disorder for personal gain.
Idris asserted that his government will not permit those with ulterior motives to exploit the protests for vandalizing public properties or businesses. “It’s alarming that they are targeting the water board, which serves the public. This indicates that malicious elements want to disrupt the peace in Kebbi,” he noted.
He urged protesters to prioritize peace and progress in the state, reminding them that damaging public utilities and shops ultimately harms the people of Kebbi.
Idris assured that his administration is committed to addressing the citizens’ challenges and appealed to the protest organizers to reconsider their actions. “They may only see the beginnings of their actions but will not witness the fallout. Destruction during the protests will only disadvantage the people of Kebbi.”
He also revealed credible information indicating that protesters plan to damage solar street lights, questioning the benefits of such actions.
