Enugu govt calls for calm over DSS, IPOB clash.

The Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has called for calm following the clash of DSS and IPOB members in Emene on the 23rd of August, which resulted in the death of two DSS officers and four members of IPOB.

Speaking after a security meeting at the government house Enugu on Monday, Ugwuanyi said that government would get to the root of the circumstances that led to the clash.

The governor also frowned at the attack on Abakpa police station on the 30th of August by unknown persons in which two police officers were allegedly killed and arms and ammunition carted away.

He warned the hoodlums who attacked the police station to return the items taken from the station, saying that the government will not tolerate the break down of law and order in the state.

According to the governor, a meeting will hold on Thursday with traditional rulers and village heads to help sensitize them on the need to strengthen security in Enugu State.

The governor added that Enugu State has been very peaceful and that the government would do everything within its power to ensure that peace and tranquility reigns in the state.

Two DSS officers and four members of IPOB were reportedly killed in a clash at Emene, Enugu on Sunday 23rd August, 2020.
